"If all the kids who dropped out didn't, we wouldn't be able to educate them anyway." -Children in America's Schools
As future educators of America, we are saddened by this situation. The students are put in an unfair position and given less opportunity due to their circumstances. There is only so much us as educators can do to clean up the mess. With all money aside, we feel if we come to school everyday and try to be positive the students will feed off of our attitudes. It is very possible we are their only role models, therefore it is our responsibility to give them the love and support they desire. In order to be the best educators, money is essential for successful learning. With the proper budget and funding for urban schools, we will be able to better close the gap of inequality between urban and suburban schools.
We are Elementary Education majors at Towson University. Currently in our School and American Society class we are researching school funding. We are focusing mainly on the difference between urban and suburban schooling. For our urban setting we chose Baltimore City and for our suburban setting we chose Harford County.
We hope you are on this site because you feel strongly about education. Those of you who are not education majors, we hope you walk away with more knowledge and an opinion on the topic at hand. Feel free to take our survey and let us know what you think. Thanks!
